A note from Deborah:

I was born in 1984 into the Clarke family. I’m very proud of my family, they are all beautiful and talented. I have three brothers and two sisters. The summer of 2005 I had the opportunity to work with my legendry guitarist brother, Darren. Then this spring my (not so little) brother James came to put his genius on the stuff we’d done, he is a genius – seriously!!!

How I got here... I’ve been singing forever, I remember when I was little waking up in the morning and singing about all the things around me from my curtain to the way my feet touched the cold pavement out side. I remember harmonising to my daddy singing when I was eight years old. After having a bit of a teenage identity crisis - “who am I God?” and all that... One day, when I was sleeping I woke up to the sound of singing, it sounded like my singing and the words said “ one day I woke up, as Deborah” Immediately I knew that I felt chosen, I had a purpose and a future and I knew who I was. A few days later I woke up in the day again and I heard the sound of singing through my door that was open, and the words were “ songs of worship through my door”, and I knew what I was being called to.

My early songwriting and composition started of with the family stereo a cheap microphone and a double tape deck, until I met my friend, Paul Davidson. One day whilst excitedly talking about my tape deck discovery to him at church, he suggested that I come over to record on real equipment and so it was the birth of “deb’s diary”... my first demo… and so it began…

Writing, creating and performing music is such a privilege. There are so many emotions that the human soul wants to express and words are never enough. I feel I’ve been given a gift to express what’s inside and I want other people to be able to experience it, to take it themselves and share it. I want my music to speak into the hearts of people and lift them up. My influences don’t come from one particular genre, this is because I love music that speaks to me. This is my calling and I want to put my all into it.

Working with Darren on the album has been a dream come true. From when we wrote our first song when I was four (poo man) I’ve always wanted to write with him as he is such a talented and gifted musician and producer. It never seemed possible till now. God gave me a way... Thank You.

I’m so excited about everything, I just want to do what I’m supposed to do, live out my destiny, it’s scary but, I love it! I love writing and performing my music, wow, so do so many people! Creativity is such a thing from God, and I’m desperate to live it out and to encourage others to do it too…

I hope you love my music as much as I love to record and perform it…

Enjoy, love Deborah x
